2026 Cycling Adventure
Time to head out for this year's cycling journey through Sweden, Denmark, Germany, and Poland. Things are a bit uncertain this time following some health struggles in the lead-up, but the road awaits.
Ready To Go
Tomorrow morning I’m getting in the saddle and heading southwest. The planned route goes to Gothenburg, followed by a ferry to Denmark, riding along the coast of Germany and Poland to Gdansk. From there, I’ll take the ferry to Nynäshamn and finish with the final leg back home to Knivsta.
I am ready to go, but I’m not sure if it’s the right call. This is my sixth consecutive year heading out on a bike adventure—having explored Sweden three times, cycled through Poland and the Baltic countries, and reached the ultimate peak with a journey down to Tarifa, Spain, concluding in Tangier, Morocco. However, this season has been a struggle. It took a long time to recover from Covid in February, and training has been on and off since I’ve had trouble recovering properly and haven’t seen the expected progress. I was even investigated for a heart condition due to some symptoms, but thankfully, it turned out to be a false positive.

Preparing for the Adventure
There are always a lot of things to prepare. The bike needed some TLC—new brake pads, bag mounts, a deep clean, and fresh lubrication. Optimizing what to bring on the road is always a process that takes more time than you think. This year, I’m going to try to stay away from hotels and hostels and rely on the tent for accommodation instead. We’ll see how it goes!
Looks like the first day is going to be a hot one, with temps hitting 29°C in the afternoon.
